New Delhi, 21st August 2024: Zoom, a leading platform for online meetings and webinars, has significantly expanded its participant capacity, now allowing up to 1 million people to join a single webinar. This update is part of Zoom’s ongoing efforts to enhance its features for users worldwide. As businesses, educational institutions, and various organizations continue to rely on virtual platforms, this new capacity is expected to cater to large-scale events, making Zoom an even more versatile tool for mass communication.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies and educational institutions shifted their operations online, resulting in a surge of platforms like Zoom gaining widespread popularity. To meet the growing demand, Zoom has continually introduced updates, including this latest enhancement of participant capacity. Zoom’s Chief Product Officer, Smita Hashim, described this expansion as a “revolutionary change,” enabling organizations to easily connect with large audiences.

The new service provides users with a series of single-use webinars, with options ranging from 10,000 to 1,000,000 participants. This update is especially beneficial for large-scale events, such as fundraising campaigns. For instance, a recent fundraising event for the U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign utilized Zoom’s platform, where over 40,000 participants joined a single call, raising $1.5 million in just three hours.

However, this enhanced feature comes at a premium. Organizing a webinar with 1 million participants will cost $100,000 while hosting an event for 10,000 participants will require a fee of $9,000. This pricing reflects Zoom’s positioning of the service as a high-end option for organizations with significant audience engagement needs.

The update marks another milestone in Zoom’s evolution, solidifying its role as a critical platform for virtual communication in a post-pandemic world.
