Young IT Engineer Assaulted and Molested in Pune’s Swargate Area; Accused Arrested
Pune, 4th September 2024: A young IT engineer was molested and beaten by a notorious criminal on a busy road in the Swargate area. The incident left the woman seriously injured, and the assailant has since been arrested.
The 21-year-old IT engineer filed a complaint at Swargate Police Station.
The accused, identified as Krushna Baburao Sawant (age 25, resident of Nilanga, Latur), has a history of criminal activity, with attempted murder charges filed against him at Chakan Police Station and violence-related charges at Khed Police Station.
According to police reports, the woman, who hails from Kolhapur, had gone shopping with a friend in the Camp area. While waiting for a bus at Swargate Bus Stop at 10:30 PM on Sunday (1st September), Sawant approached and molested her. When she resisted, he assaulted her, causing serious injuries. But, bystanders intervened, caught Sawant, and handed him over to the police. Swargate Police have registered the crime and are conducting further investigations.
