“World Honeybee Day” Central Bee Research & Training Institute (CBRTI), Khadi & Village Industries Commission organised HONEY FESTIVAL

On the occasion of first “World Honeybee Day” on 20th May 2018, Central Bee Research & Training Institute (CBRTI), Khadi & Village Industries Commission organised HONEY FESTIVAL / Public Open Day. The Programme was inaugurated and distribution of Honey Bottles to the children By the Hands of Hon”ble Shri Anil Shirole, MP, Pune. He also distributed Bee Boxes to the tribal’s of Karjat Cluster under Honey Mission in presence of Shri Ramesh Surung, Director, MSKVI Board, Shri Deep Varma, Director, CBRTI and Shri Milind Wakode, Former Dy. Chief Executive Officer, KVIC.

In his address to the Bee Mitras that nation is gaining momentum in the developmental activities like Honey Mission (Sweet Kranti) under guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji. Now UN has also understood the importance and declared 20th May as World Honeybee Day. He appealed the people and particularly students to become Bee Friends and support bee activities to protect environment and sustainable living. He stressed that CBRTI should play major role in the upliftment of beekeepers and beekeeping activities for which he is ready to provide all the necessary support.

Beekeepers from various areas including Kerala participated in the Honey Festival and displayed their honey products for sale. Honey Bottles were distributed to more than 200 children and Punekar’s took keen interest in the beekeeping activities, museum, film show and the festival.
