World Heritage Day Celebrated With Inauguration of Heritage Walk Website in Pune

Pune, 18th April 2023: Every year on April 18th, the world celebrates World Heritage Day to promote awareness about the importance of preserving cultural heritage. In line with this objective, a Heritage Walk website and online ticket reservation system were inaugurated on this day by Vikram Kumar, Municipal Commissioner, Pune Municipal Corporation at Vishrambagwara, Pune.

The Heritage Walk initiative was launched on August 20th, 2022, with the participation of the Pune Municipal Corporation and Sandeep Godbole. This project aims to promote tourism and educate people about the historical significance of Pune’s 11 heritage sites. An expert guide accompanies tourists and provides them with information about the structures.

The website, https://heritagewalk.pmc.gov.in/, contains detailed information about the Heritage Cell Department, the route of the Heritage Walk, and the historical places included in it. Tourists can also book tickets online, eliminating the need to visit the office.

The inauguration ceremony was held at Vishrambagwada in Pune and was attended by several dignitaries. In his speech, Kumar emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage and expressed his hope that this initiative would attract more tourists to Pune.

The Heritage Walk website and online reservation system have been hailed as a significant step towards promoting tourism and preserving cultural heritage. With the click of a button, tourists can now reserve their tickets and explore the rich historical heritage of Pune.
