World Disabled Day observed at Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center, Kirkee

The World Disabled Day 2016 was observed by Southern Command on 03 Dec 2016 at Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center, Kirkee.  The function was presided over by Lt Gen P M Hariz, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC-in-C, Southern Command & Mrs Zarina Hariz, Regional President, AWWA .  A number of Institutes to include Paraplegic Rehabilitation Center, Queen Mary’s Technical Institute , Artificial Limb Center, Pune and Asha School participated in the event with over 150 differently abled serving and retired soldiers of all the three services and differently abled children of ASHA School, Pune attending the function. 

The function titled “Inspirational Day” keeping in line with the inspiration people draw from these soldiers and children. The event besides felicitating residents of the participating institutes included an entertainment program performed by the differently abled children and soldiers.

A   book titled  “BORN TO FLY”  written by Air Commodore Nitin Sathe on life and times of Fg Offr (Late) M P Anil Kumar who was a paraplegic and long time resident of PRC, Pune was dedicated to PRC by the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion Lt Gen P M Hariz exhorted the community to come forward and participate actively in various rehabilitation programs being undertaken. He appreciated the efforts of the skilled staff for their dedication in discharging their charter as also lauded the achievements of the institute.
