Women Passengers Using MSRTC Buses Increase In Pune Division After Govt Announced 50% Concession In Fare, Over 1 Crore Benefitted In Six Months

Pune 13th Sept 2023: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has witnessed an increase in the number of women passengers using the government after the state government announced 50% concession in the ticker fare earlier this year. In Pune division alone, over 20 lakh women are taking benefit of the scheme every month.

According to officials, a total of 1.21 Crore women have travelled in the MSRTC buses in Pune division in the last six months through which MSRTC has earned a revenue of Rs 46.86 Crore as per 50% concession while the revenue as per the actual fare would be Rs 93.63 Crore. The highest number of women passengers were recorded in May when a large number of people travelled by government buses during the summer holidays. This has also resulted in an increase of the overall revenue of the MSRTC, said officials

According to the data, 21.87 Lakh women used the service last month while 21.18 lakh used it in July, 21.18 lakh in June, 27.77 lakh in May, 20.30 lakh in April and 7.83 lakh used it in March. The state government had announced the scheme ‘Mahila Samman Scheme’ for the women travellers in the MSRTC buses under which the women are provided 50% concession in the ticket fare.
