Woman From Pune Duped On Pretext Of Offering Role In Web Series, Case Registered
Pune 22nd Sept 2023: A woman from Pune has lodged a complaint with city police against two men for allegedly duping her on pretext of offering job in a web series which according to them was scheduled to be shot in Hyderabad. The victim was asked to pay Rs 16,560 for air ticket to travel between Pune and Hyderabad to sign an agreement for the role.
However, the ticket were not booked and nobody responded to the victim’s call or message after which she reached out to police to lodge complaint in the matter. According to police, woman who is a resident of Sinhagad Road came in contact with a person through a WhatsApp group who claimed to be a director of a web series named ‘Barish’ asked her to send photographs and video clips for audition.
After the woman sent all the details needed for audition she received another call from a person claiming to be an executive director of the web series and asked to come down to Hyderabad to sign an agreement. The woman was asked to book air tickets for the same and was provided a promo code for discount. However, when the code did not work she was asked to transfer Rs 16,560 claiming that the ticket will be booked from their side by their official partner.
The ticket was not booked and the called did not respond to calls or message after which the woman realised that she had been duped and reached out to police to lodge a complaint in the matter. A case under relevant sections has been registered at Sinhagad Road Police Station, further investigation in the matter is underway.
