Pune, 19th June 2024 – WhatsApp is set to introduce a new feature allowing users to share images and video files in high-definition (HD) quality seamlessly. Currently, users must manually select the HD option before sharing media. The company, owned by Meta, is currently testing this feature and anticipates a rollout to stable users soon, enabling default sharing of photos and videos in HD quality without requiring additional settings.

No specific timeline has been provided for the feature’s release, but it has already begun appearing for many beta users in WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.24.13.10. The feature is currently in its final testing stages before a potential wider release. While the default HD setting may enhance user experience by preserving media quality, it could also lead to increased storage usage on WhatsApp once implemented.

WhatsApp allows a maximum video file size of 64MB, which may present limitations for users attempting to send longer video clips. This anticipated feature aims to simplify the process of sharing high-quality media on the platform, potentially transforming user interactions with multimedia content.
