Pune, 9th February 2024: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted rain for parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, in the coming days, according to its weather bulletin released on Friday.

The bulletin indicated that Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, and certain other regions of the state could expect light to moderate rain after February 10, as an anti-cyclone is anticipated to form over the area.

However, Pune is likely to experience a 2-degree Celsius rise in minimum temperature until February 14, accompanied by a slight haze and cloudy skies in the mornings starting February 10, as per the IMD.

Presently, the city is witnessing unusually high temperatures due to moisture blocking the entry of cold winds from the North. Pune’s maximum temperature ranges from 34 to 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature hovers between 14 and 15 degrees Celsius, as reported by the IMD. Some relief from the heat is expected after February 14.

Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, north Maharashtra, and Telangana are expected to witness light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.

The northern parts of the country are currently under the influence of the Western Disturbance (WD), leading to a decrease in temperatures in those areas. However, most parts of central India, including Maharashtra, have not experienced the cold waves due to the influx of moisture in the air.
