Wadgaonsheri, 21st October 2023 : Residents of Wadgaon Sheri, near the D-Mart road, have reached out with deep concern and frustration over an ongoing issue affecting their quality of life. The problem in question is the relentless noise pollution emanating from Cybage Company. The excessive noise has become a serious nuisance and a source of harassment for the residents.

The residents have alleged that the Cybage Company habitually blares music during their events, despite repeated pleas from the community to lower the volume. These requests have gone unanswered, leaving residents in a state of constant disruption. This noise pollution has not only disrupted the peace of the neighbourhood but has also had adverse effects on the physical and mental well-being of those residing in the area.

The residents of Wadgaon Sheri have identified several problems stemming from the noise pollution caused by Cybage Company, including sleep disturbances, potential health problems, such as stress, anxiety, and hearing damage and difficulty focusing on daily activities, work and studies. The noise pollution has significantly reduced the overall quality of life for residents, leading to increased stress and discomfort. The issue has had a particularly negative impact on senior citizens and migraine patients in the area.

In response to the concerns, Aaditya Patil, a resident, expressed frustration, stating, “The company is located in a residential area, and around 1000 residents surrounding Cybage premises are troubled by them. We have raised this issue with the police multiple times, but no definite action has been taken yet.”

Yasmin, another resident, added, “The company claims to care about the residents as they are situated in a residential area, but they forget our existence during their events. They lower the volume when we reach out to complain but increase it as soon as we leave. We faced the same issue last year and they promised not to repeat it. Nevertheless, we are here again. We urge the authorities to take strict action now.”

Monica Sharma, an Activist from Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar (TSKN), highlighted the company’s repeated violations, saying, “Cybage Company violates noise pollution rules whenever they have events. The effects have been devastating – patients and senior citizens are suffering immensely. It’s high time these violations are addressed, and our well-being and peace are prioritised over corporate convenience.”

In response, Balkrishna Kadam, the Police in charge at Yerwada Police Station said “We permitted them just as we do for others. We have received complaints, and we warned them to reduce the sound decibel levels and turn off the music within the specified time limit. We hope they will comply.”

Pratap Jagtap from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) said, “If the situation escalates beyond control, the police can observe and report it to MPCB and only then can we initiate prosecution.”

The residents are urgently seeking assistance and public attention to address this issue. They believe that unbiased reporting can play a pivotal role in raising awareness about the problem and, hopefully, lead to a resolution. The residents of Wadgaon Sheri eagerly await a resolution to this pressing issue, and they hope that their concerns will be addressed promptly.
