Wabtec and Ennoble Partner to Refurbish a School in Pune

Pune, 2 May 2023: Wabtec Corporation and the Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation announced today the completed refurbishment of Zilla Parishad School in Mahalunge, Pune. This initiative is part of Wabtec’s “Caring for Our Communities” program, which is committed to making a meaningful, sustainable impact in the communities where employees live and work.

Vijay Inamke, Wabtec’s Senior Director of India Sourcing, inaugurated the refurbished school. He handed the keys over to the school authorities under the presence of ZEO, Mahalunge Mr. Suresh Sable, ZP School Headmaster Mr. Anand Raut, School Management Committee members Ms. Anita Salunkhe and Mr. Chirag Bhandari (Founder & CEO, Ennoble).

The Zilla Parishad School is the first of two schools that Wabtec and Ennoble are upgrading. The second school scheduled to be refurbished is the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) School No. 161. The PMC project completed the first phase of the upgrade, with second phase expected to begin soon. Combined the initiatives at these two schools will benefit more than 2,400 students.

We’ve made an impact at 50 schools in India this year. The students at these two Pune schools will benefit from the infrastructure improvements, which provide a cleaner, safer, and better overall learning environment.”

After a detailed survey of the region, these two schools were identified as the initial beneficiaries for Wabtec’s education-focused community projects in Pune. A comprehensive assessment to address key gaps were identified and a refurbishment plan was developed. Wabtec partnered Ennoble Social Innovation Foundation with this project given its expertise in Government School Infrastructure Revamp and proven track record in transforming several government schools across various states in India.

Wabtec’s India Global Sourcing Organization operates from Baner, Pune and sources parts for Wabtec’s global and domestic plants. Wabtec’s business in India is spread across various plants and manufacturing sites dedicated to rail technology. The company supplies locomotives and subsystems to Indian Railways and Metro projects across the region. The company also has a large engineering presence.
