Pune, 21st June 2024: A risky stunt undertaken by a youth duo to shoot a social media reel in Pune has led to serious legal repercussions. Authorities may register a case of attempted suicide against them, and Pune Police are exploring this possibility. The individuals in the video have been identified as Mihir Gandhi and Minakshi Salunkhe, both reportedly professional athletes. Following the reel’s viral spread, they were summoned to the police station for questioning.

The reel was shot at Shri Swami Narayan Mandir near Narhe. By endangering their lives, the duo created a video for social media, which has since received widespread criticism. Prominent Pune-based reel star Atharva Sudame has urged people not to seek fame through such dangerous actions. Many elders have expressed that young people should focus on their studies rather than making reckless videos. The video’s reach has sparked discussions about parental influence and potential police action against those creating hazardous content.

There is a significant possibility that a case of attempted suicide will be registered against the social media influencers. It is reported that the video was shot and published in April. The duo was reprimanded by police and a crime was registered against them yesterday. Additionally, Minakshi Salunkhe’s social media accounts feature similar risky stunts. With court authorization, Pune Police plan to add IPC section 309 (Attempt to commit suicide) to the charges.

Details of the Reel

In the quest for instant social media fame, various types of reels are made daily. However, the desire for overnight popularity sometimes leads to dangerous behavior. In the controversial reel, the girl is seen hanging from the boy’s hand at a significant height, with a simple mishap potentially leading to tragedy. The video aimed to showcase ‘grip strength’. In a similar incident in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, a girl died while reversing a car for a social media video when she lost control and the car fell into a valley.
