Violent Clashes Erupt in Pune Housing Society Disputes, Leaving Residents Injured

Pune, 1st January 2024: In a shocking turn of events at the Brahma Angan Co-operative Housing Society in Pune, a feud between rival factions vying for control over the society’s management escalated into a violent altercation. The incident, which unfolded on December 27 at DDR office number 4 in Market Yard, witnessed a brutal attack on Ashfaque Mushtaque Qazi, a 51-year-old resident and a member of one of the contesting groups.

 

According to Qazi’s harrowing account in his complaint, he was ambushed by Sharaf Ali Mushqi (62), Santosh Indulkar (42), and Shahid Shaikh (32). Indulkar reportedly wielded a silver-coloured pipe, inflicting severe injuries on Qazi’s hand, while Mushqi hurled a cement slab at him, intensifying the assault.

 

Prompt action by the Swargate Police saw the invocation of multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 326, 324, 323, 504, 506, and 34 against the accused individuals, indicating the gravity of the situation. API Umesh Karke, the investigating officer, confirmed the registration of a case citing physical assault and relevant charges against the assailants.

 

This violent incident mirrors a recent altercation at the Elena Living Co-operative Housing Society in Mohammadwadi, where tensions over members’ rights to the gym facility resulted in another intra-group fight. Sandip Agarwal, a resident, fell victim to an alleged assault by four individuals, sustaining a serious eye injury during the altercation.
