Violence against doctors to be discussed on the eve of Doctors Day

Pune, June 25, 2018: July 1, is marked as Doctor’s Day and looking at the violence against doctors a special panel discussion is to be conducted on the topic ‘Violence Against Doctors, who is the culprit?’.

P.M. Shah Foundation has organized a special panel discussion with the help of Jan Aarogya Manch, Pune Citizen- Doctors Forum (PCDF) and Vardhmaan Pratishthan. The discussion is organized on June 30 at 4 pm at Vardhmaan Pratishthaan, near Symbiosis College, Senapati Bapat Road. The event is free and open for all.

Adv. Chetan Gandhi, Director, P. M. Shah Foundation shared the information. Due to repeated accusations and attacks against doctors seen in the last few years by the patient’s relatives, there has been an urgency to resolve this issue. Dr. Arun Gadre, Activist and member of PCDF, Dr. Jayant Navrange, Executive Trustee, Indian Medical Association (Pune branch), Dr. Ajay Vane, General Secretary Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) and Anand Agashe, Senior Journalist will be gracing the panel discussion and present their views. Gandhi and Dr. Dnyaneshwar Mote will moderate the discussion.

”The hospitals run by government are often overloaded and many a times unable to meet basic requirements of the patients. Private hospitals are tagged under the name of commercialization. And there is no proper communication between doctors and patient’s family which later leads to violence against doctors,” said Gandhi.
