Sitapur, 11 May 2024: In a tragic incident that shook the village of Palhapur in Sitapur, a young man named Anurag Singh, in an intoxicated state, committed heinous acts resulting in the deaths of his mother, wife, and two children, with one child sustaining injuries.

The incident occurred on Friday night, leaving the community in shock and disbelief. Anurag Singh, son of the late Veerendra Singh, resided in Palhapur with his mother Savitri Devi. His wife Priyanka Singh and their children Ashvi, Arna, and Adavik lived in Lucknow but had come to visit on Friday.

A dispute within the family escalated, leading Anurag to shoot his mother, attack his wife with a hammer, and throw the children off the roof. The violent outburst resulted in the immediate deaths of Anurag’s mother, wife, and two children. Adavik survived but suffered rib injuries and was rushed to the trauma centre for treatment.

The motive behind Anurag’s actions remains unclear, with villagers speculating about potential family disputes as a trigger for the horrific incident.

Police Circle Officer Dinesh Shukla is currently investigating the scene with the assistance of law enforcement personnel. The absence of the weapon used in the crime, despite the discovery of two empty cartridges, has raised suspicions and added complexity to the case.

Anurag’s history of alcohol addiction is also being considered as a contributing factor to his extreme behavior. As the investigation unfolds, SP Chakresh Mishra arrived at the scene to oversee the proceedings.

Anurag’s father had passed away, leaving him to reside in Palhapur with his mother. Meanwhile, Priyanka and their children were residents of Lucknow, where the children were pursuing their education.
