Pune 11th Sept : The pedestrian underpass in the Viman Nagar area, which served as a useful pathway for commuters and local residents to cross the road, has been closed for over twenty days now. The filthy water coming out of a storm water line near the underpass has accumulated on the road by closing the road for commuters.

As a result, citizens are facing inconvenience as they need to wade through the water with their belongings to cross the road. The residents of Viman Nagar have already filed complaints with the local authorities regarding the issue. However, the administration has failed to provide necessary machinery promptly and due to the lack of immediate attention the problem persists. Local officials claim that they are trying to solve the issue but it has been pending for over twenty days.

Thousands of passengers coming out from PMPML’s bus stop in BRT lane at Vimannagar Chowk have to use the underpass to cross the road. However, with the underpass being closed, the commuters are forced to wade through the water, which poses challenges, especially for women, senior citizens, and students. The Pune Municipal Corporation officials have said that work to remove the filthy water from the underpass is already underway and it will be opened for the commuters within the next two days.
