Two Killed In Accident On Old Pune-Mumbai Highway, SUV Car Driver Booked
Pune 14th Sept 2023: In a tragic accident reported near Somatane Phata on the old Pune-Mumbai highway on Wednesday, two people riding on a bike were killed after they were hit by a SUV car. The incident was reported at around 8:15 am near Hotel Bholenath on Somatane Phata.
A car driver has been booked by police in the matter following a case registered at Talegaon Dabhade police station. Two people identified as Arjun Shankar Shelke (38) and Bhalchandra Kisan Aherkar (37) both residents of Nigdi, Pimpri Chinchwad have been killed in the accident. They were hit by a car while moving towards Pune on the highway, said officials.
Police have booked the driver of Compass Jeep car under sections 279, 304 (a) and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with sections 134 and 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
