Tweets To Be Labelled For Violating Twitter Rules; Handles Will Not Face Action

New Delhi, 26th April 2023: Since Elon Musk acquired control of Twitter, the previous several months have been dramatic for users, with every statement either sparking indignation or uncertainty. Many handles have lost their verification as a result of Musk’s decision to charge users for the once-coveted blue tick; only celebrities were permitted to keep them.

Twitter has begun marking posts that break its rules, weeks after the new CEO refuted charges that hate speech has increased on the platform.

– The labels, which highlight hateful content and reduce the reach of the tweet, include shadowbanning, freedom of speech, not reach, and censorship.
– The user won’t experience the same actions for the content they upload, although tweets will be marked and restricted.
– If handles believe their content was improperly pulled up and banned, they may appeal the judgment.

Hate speech on Twitter has reportedly increased after Musk took over, but he has refuted this and asserted that it decreased.

In a BBC interview, Musk also charged a reporter with lying for bringing up an increase in hate speech.

It is unclear if these efforts will be effective given tweets are marked without repercussions for handles.
