Kondhwa, 9th June 2024: A significant tree plantation drive took place under the noble initiative of “Mission Green Earth,” organized by Art of Living in collaboration with the Nandanvan Volunteers group. The Pune Municipal Corporation’s Tree Plantation Department at Shivarkar Garden provided 50 free saplings for the event, which saw the enthusiastic participation of over 45 volunteers dedicated to creating a greener planet.

Held in Nandanvan, Wanowari, Pune, Maharashtra, this drive aimed to make a positive impact on the environment during the week of World Environment Day. A total of 150 trees were planted in a single day, symbolizing collective effort and commitment to environmental conservation. The event took place under the active guidance of retired irrigation department officer Suresh Paluskar.

The selected tree species included Laxhmi Taru, Karanj, and Imli, among others, each chosen for their unique qualities and benefits to the local ecosystem. This tree plantation drive was not just a one-time event but part of a long-term plan. The organizers have put measures in place for the ongoing maintenance of the planted trees, including regular watering and the provision of necessary nutrients. This approach ensures that the trees have the best chance of thriving and contributing to a greener future.

In light of changing climate patterns and the need for increased green cover, this initiative holds immense significance. The temperatures in Pune have exceeded 40 degrees Celsius, and the increasing heatwaves, floods, and extreme weather events are becoming more evident.
