Tragic Collision on Delhi-Meerut Expressway Claims Two Lives, Leaves 9 Children Injured

Ghaziabad, 30th March 2024: A devastating accident unfolded on Saturday morning along the Delhi-Meerut Expressway near the Crossing Republik in Ghaziabad, resulting in the death of two individuals, including the driver, and injuring nine children. The collision involved a car and a truck, as reported by authorities.

The accident occurred near the Crossing Republik police station area, claiming the lives of a car driver and a child, while nine children sustained injuries. The car, identified as an Ertiga, was traveling at high speed and collided with a truck during an overtaking maneuver. The incident took place around 7 a.m. near Neelam Dharam Kanta.

The driver of the Ertiga, identified as 24-year-old Anas from Amroha, along with one child, lost their lives in the collision, while the occupants of the car, including nine children, suffered injuries. Eleven children were traveling in the car, all residents of various areas in Amroha. Anas was transporting his 12-year-old nephew, Viyan, to Delhi for the sixth-grade entrance exam at Jamia.

According to Naimeedin, Anas’s uncle, the accident occurred due to a malfunctioning dumper parked on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. In an attempt to avoid it, the truck collided with the car, causing it to crash. Anas died on the spot, and the injured children were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Three of the injured children were admitted to Sarvodaya Hospital, four to Manipal Hospital, one to Viyan MMJ, and two to SJM Hospital in Chhajarsi. The incident has left the community in shock, emphasizing the need for road safety measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
