Tragic Accident on Mumbai-Pune Highway Claims Two Lives, Leaves One Injured

Pune, 25th June 2023: In a devastating incident on the old Mumbai-Pune highway, a mini tempo and its occupants fell victim to a horrific accident when a container trailer lost control and collided with another mini tempo before toppling onto the former. The collision resulted in the tragic death of the mini tempo driver and a passenger, while a young teenager, who was also traveling in the tempo, sustained injuries.

The fatal incident took place near the Khopoli area, specifically at the Anda Point junction, at approximately 7:30 am on Saturday. According to Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge of Raigad, the container trailer first collided with one mini tempo, causing it to overturn, before subsequently crashing into another mini tempo traveling behind it. The driver of the first mini tempo, identified as Satish Pawar (54), and a passenger seated beside him, identified as Gurdeep Sarova (47), tragically lost their lives on the spot. Fortunately, a college student named Sufiyan Mulla (19), who was traveling in the second mini tempo, escaped the incident with minor injuries.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances leading to the accident, including any potential factors that may have contributed to the trailer losing control.
