Tamhini Ghat, 2nd August 2024: As the road passing through Tamhini Ghat via Pali-Mangaon has become impassable within the Pune district, traffic on this road has been halted from noon today until 8:00 AM on 5th August. Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has announced this notice.

Dr. Diwase’s order notes that the widening work on National Highway No. 753 F, which stretches from Pune to Male village and continues to the Pune-Raigad district boundary, is ongoing. Pune district has been put on high alert due to heavy rainfall, which is currently affecting the Tamhini Ghat area on this highway.

Specifically, chain no. 63/000 on National Highway No. 753 F in the ghat area of Mauje Aadarwadi village was completely closed due to a landslide. This landslide resulted in one fatality and one injury at a picnic family hotel located on the side of the highway.

Yesterday, in the ghat area of Mauje Aadarwadi and Dongarwadi villages, from chain no. 61/650 to 61/680 on National Highway No. 753 F, the road has developed cracks and is in a dilapidated state due to heavy rain. This section, located in the Tamhini Ghat forest area, has experienced significant road damage due to the severe weather.

Repair work is underway in the damaged area, and measures are being implemented for traffic safety. Currently, traffic is being managed on a one-way basis. Given the forecast of continued heavy rain, there is a risk of further accidents, making regular traffic on the highway dangerous.

The Tamhini Ghat area is experiencing heavy tourist traffic this weekend, necessitating the closure of National Highway No. 753 F.

Changes to ST Bus Routes

Due to the roadblock through Tamhini Ghat, traffic will be closed from noon today until 8:00 AM on August 5. Hence, the Roha-Akkalkot bus service has been diverted via Pali. Other buses traveling to Pune from this route have also had their routes altered.
