Tourists Defy Ban and Visit Kund Mala Embankment Despite Dangerous Weather in Pune

Maval, 28th July 2024: Due to cloudburst-esque rains in Pune District over the past four days, famous tourist spots in Maval and Mulshi Talukas, popular during this season, have been closed by the administration for safety precautions. Despite this, overly enthusiastic tourists are still visiting these spots, risking their lives and ignoring administrative instructions. To prevent any potential danger, tourism has been banned in Maval and Mulshi talukas until 29th July. However, today, on the occasion of the weekend, tourists defied the ban and visited the Kund Mala embankment near Talegaon Dabhade in Maval.

 

The administration has imposed this ban to avoid possible dangers, yet some tourists are disregarding it. If someone gets stuck in the water flow, the administration will be held responsible. Despite the ban, many tourists are visiting these places during the heavy rains. As a precautionary measure, all tourist spots in Pune district have been closed for the next two days due to increased water flow. Pune Collector Dr Suhas Diwase has urged citizens to cooperate and avoid going to such dangerous places.

 

Ban on Visiting Public Places in City Area Including Lonavala:

 

Heavy rain has been falling for two days in areas such as Sahara Bridge, Bhushi Dam, and Lion’s Point in Lonavala. The waterfalls in these areas are heavily flowing, and tourists have been banned from visiting these spots for security reasons to prevent loss of life and danger. The Lonavala Police have set up a check post at the foot of the Lonavala Dam, prohibiting all tourists and other vehicles from proceeding. The administration has ordered the closure of all tourist spots in Maval and Mulshi talukas from 25th to 29th July for security reasons.

 

Tourist Spots Closed:

 

Key tourist spots in Pune’s Lonavala, Maval, Khed, Ambegaon, Junnar, Bhor, Velha, and Mulshi talukas have been closed. Popular destinations like Lonavala, Tamhini Ghat, Pawana Dam, Mulshi Dam, and Khadakwasla are frequented by tourists. However, due to heavy rain in these areas, large amounts of water are flowing, and all tourist places have been closed for 48 hours as a precaution.
