Pune, 18th May 2023: According to former Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray, there is no shortage of river beds anywhere in the world, but it happens only under the jurisdiction of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). PMC gives the work to contractors, who cut the trees, resulting in the river getting narrow.

Thackeray has posted his reaction on Twitter to the riverbank improvement project underway at Bund Garden. He also tagged the account of Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. He expressed that the ongoing works on the riverbed are very harmful. The river is getting narrow, about 75 meters which will cause a lot of problems in the future.

“Whenever the Mutha River will face a flood-like situation, it is estimated that the water will flow from every direction. Due to this, the river bed filling is done on a large scale here in Bund Garden. To complete this work the contractors are hired by the PMC. Probably, this work has to be completed before the G-20 conference, which is to be held next month because the PMC is struggling to show the work to the foreign guests coming here,” he added further.
