New Delhi, 11th August 2023: Air India has introduced a fresh logo and revamped aircraft livery as part of its extensive transformation strategy, following the successful acquisition of 470 new aircraft in a multi-billion-dollar deal. These changes symbolize the airline’s commitment to embracing advanced technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.

The newly unveiled logo, named ‘The Vista’, embodies the spirit of a resolute and forward-looking India, signifying a significant milestone in its Vihaan.AI initiative. The logo features a distinctive alteration from the previous design, swapping the red arched window accents for an elegant “gold window frame” enclosing the words ‘AIR INDIA’ in the upper-right corner. The tail design of the new aircraft boasts a blend of gold, red, and purple hues, complemented by a striking red and gold underbelly with the airline name displayed boldly.

‘The Vista’ logo draws inspiration from the summit of the gold window frame, symbolizing boundless prospects, innovation, and the airline’s courageous vision for the future. The livery incorporates a rich palette of deep red, aubergine, and gold accents, accompanied by a pattern reminiscent of a chakra.

Despite the rebranding, the beloved mascot ‘The Maharaja’ remains an integral part of Air India’s identity and will continue to be present in the airline’s journey into the future. The travelers can anticipate witnessing the new logo on Air India’s first Airbus A350, scheduled to join the fleet by December.

Campbell Wilson, the CEO of Air India, expressed that the revamped brand signifies the company’s aspiration to become a world-class airline serving a global clientele while embodying the essence of a proud new India on the global stage. N Chandrasekaran, the chairman, emphasized the airline’s goal to achieve the best technological advancements within the next 9-12 months, positioning Air India as a prominent player in both the domestic and international aviation markets.

The strategic rebranding and modernized livery are integral parts of Air India’s comprehensive transformation initiative, aimed at redefining its role as India’s premier flagship airline. The airline’s transformation journey includes a significant investment to refurbish the interiors of its wide-body fleet, valued at $400 million.

Additional upgrades encompass a new website and mobile app, designed to provide an enhanced digital experience with cutting-edge tools and features. The company is also planning to introduce new lounges at Delhi and New York JFK airports. With the employment of over 5,000 new staff members, including cabin and cockpit crew, Air India is dedicated to enhancing the guest experience and establishing itself as the preferred airline for travelers both within India and internationally.

Air India, originally founded by Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata (JRD Tata) in 1932 as Tata Airlines, has undergone various transformations over the years. The airline’s recent rebranding and modernization efforts underscore its ongoing commitment to excellence in service and technology, aiming to continue its legacy of aviation excellence well into the future.
