Chennai, 22nd August 2024: Thalapathy Vijay, the renowned Tamil actor, took a significant step into politics by officially launching the flag of his newly formed political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), at the party’s headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai. The event, attended by key party officials, marked the beginning of Vijay’s political journey as he aims to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. During the ceremony, Vijay expressed his pride in the party’s formation, emphasizing that TVK will work tirelessly for the development of Tamil Nadu.

TVK’s formal entry into politics will be further solidified by a grand rally planned for the end of September in Vikravandi, located in the Villupuram district. This rally is expected to draw significant attention and mark the official launch of the party to the public.

Vijay, who announced the formation of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) in February 2024, has outlined his political roadmap. He intends to fully immerse himself in political activities after completing his current film project, ‘Thalapathy 69,’ scheduled for completion by February 2025. Until then, Vijay plans to focus on building TVK’s grassroots infrastructure and ensuring the party’s presence is felt across Tamil Nadu.

In a clear stance on national politics, Vijay confirmed that TVK would not support any political party in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. His focus remains on strengthening TVK and preparing for the upcoming state elections, where the party will seek to make a strong impact. Vijay’s entry into politics is seen as a significant development in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, with many closely watching his next moves.
