Tempo Accident Injures 20 Warkaris from Parbhani During Ashadi Wari

Katraj, 1st July 2024:Thousands of devotees from across Maharashtra come to Pune for the Ashadi Wari Palkhi Procession from Dehu and Alandi in Pune District to Pandharpur in Solapur District. Yesterday, a tempo carrying Warkaris from Parbhani overturned on Katraj Kondhwa Road, resulting in injuries to around 20 Warkaris. All injured are receiving treatment.

Prayagbai Narayan Bokhare (72), a resident of Parbhani, filed a complaint at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station. The injured tempo driver has been identified as Laxmanrao Chopade, also from Parbhani.

The Warkaris from Parbhani district were participating in the Palkhi ceremony of Jagatguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Shreshta Dnyaneshwar Maharaj. They departed for their stay last night in a tempo. While passing through Katraj-Kondhwa Road, the driver, Chopade, lost control, causing the tempo to overturn. The 20 passengers in the tempo sustained minor injuries. Bokhare suffered injuries to the head and hand and fractured his wrist. Senior Police Inspector Dashrath Patil from Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station rushed to the spot.
