PUNE: India’s leading entrepreneur and youth icon Tehseen Poonawalla has petitioned the Maharashtra state election commission seeking immediate removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photos  on petrol pumps hoardings  citing that they were violating the model code of coduct in the election bound city of Pune and different  regions of Maharashtra. Elections are slated to take place soon in many regions of the state and the election  code of conduct has been enforced by the commission.

Poonawalla,  who has been promoting the SP-Congress alliance was in Uttar Pradesh where the  same issue was brought to the notice of the Uttar Pradesh Election Commission following which the EC issued directives to the concerned ministry seeking the immediate removal of the photographers.
Poonawalla maintains that the implementing agencies in Maharashtra  were lackadaisical in their approach in removal of the same and PM Modi’s pictures can still be seen on the petrol pump hoardings despite the code of conduct in vogue.

A letter addressed to the Maharashtra State Election Commission  on behalf of Tehseen Poonwalla seeking removal of hoardings was handed over to the election authority on Monday by Pune Deputy Mayor Mukari Algude, Advocate Avinash Salve , Rahul Mhaske , Farz khan and Lokshahi Foundation President Mohammed Lala and  Salim Lala .
