Tata Motors Unveils Altroz Racer In India With Prices Starting At Rs 9.49 Lakh
Pune, 8th June 2024: Tata Motors has launched the new Altroz Racer in India, priced between ₹9.49 lakh and ₹10.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The Altroz Racer is a performance-oriented version of the Altroz turbo petrol, featuring sporty enhancements aimed at increasing its appeal. Prospective buyers can book the Altroz Racer with a token amount of ₹21,000. Alongside the Racer, Tata has updated select variants of the standard Altroz with additional features. The Altroz Racer is set to rival the Hyundai i20 N Line, offering a competitive entry-level price.
The Tata Altroz Racer is equipped with a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine sourced from the Tata Nexon, producing 118 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. This engine is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission, with no automatic option available. Tata emphasizes that the Racer model boasts a sportier exhaust note compared to standard variants.
In terms of design, the Altroz Racer features several aesthetic upgrades, including a blacked-out bonnet and roof that create a dual-tone paint scheme. Twin white stripes run across the bonnet, roof, and boot, while a ‘Racer’ badge on the fender and new alloy wheels enhance its sporty look. The Altroz Racer is available in three dual-tone colors: Atomic Orange, Avenue White, and Pure Grey.
Inside, the cabin sports a blacked-out theme with orange accents, black leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching, and twin stripes. Despite the unchanged dashboard, the model includes a range of features such as an electric sunroof, a digital instrument console, ventilated front seats, cruise control, and a 360-degree camera.
The Altroz Racer is poised to compete primarily with the Hyundai i20 N Line, offering a more affordable entry-level trim priced approximately ₹50,000 less than the i20 N Line, which ranges from ₹10 lakh to ₹12.52 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Motors’ latest launch seeks to attract enthusiasts looking for a sporty yet economical hatchback option.
