India, 14th February 2024: In a move set to delight electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts across India, Tata Motors has announced a significant reduction in the prices of its popular Nexon and Tiago EV models, with discounts of up to ₹1,20,000. This commendable initiative comes as a result of a decline in battery cell prices, marking a pivotal moment in the country’s journey towards sustainable transportation.

Effective immediately, the Tata Tiago EV will be available at a starting price of just ₹7.99 lakh, making it one of the most affordable EV options on the market. Similarly, the Nexon EV will now start at ₹14.49 lakh, while the long-range variant will be priced from ₹16.99 lakh, enhancing the appeal of these environmentally friendly vehicles.

Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd (TPEM), expressed his enthusiasm for the price reduction, stating, “Battery costs constitute a substantial part of the overall cost of an EV. Due to a recent decrease in battery cell prices and the anticipation of further reductions in the future, we have decided to actively transfer the ensuing advantages directly to our customers.”

Srivatsa emphasized Tata’s commitment to promoting the widespread adoption of EVs, affirming, “Our mission is to accelerate the mainstream adoption of EVs by making them more accessible nationwide. Our collection already provides a diverse selection of vehicle designs, driving ranges, and pricing options for our intelligent, feature-packed electric vehicles.”

Launched in October 2022, the Tata Tiago EV has quickly garnered attention for its impressive specifications and affordability. With two battery pack options available, offering ranges of up to 315 km and 250 km respectively, the Tiago EV presents a compelling choice for eco-conscious consumers seeking practical and efficient transportation solutions.

With this bold price reduction, Tata Motors is not only making EVs more accessible but also reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the automotive industry. As the demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, initiatives like these are poised to accelerate India’s transition towards a greener, cleaner future.
