Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce gets extension of autonomy

Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce got autonomous status in the academic year 2012-13. As per the then UGC regulations the autonomy was for six years. During this first cycle of autonomy, college tried to implement the academic autonomy in letter and in spirit. College started unique embedded Honors programme at undergraduate level for B.A. and B.Com. students, introduced masters program (M.A.) in English and Economics, incorporated interdisciplinary approach, enhanced use of technology in teaching learning and evaluation, introduced professional certification programme of ACCA. During this period, college was honored by the status of “College with Potential for Excellence” by UGC and NAAC accredited our college in the 3rd cycle with an ‘A+’ with CGPA of 3.51 out of 4.

As per the revised guidelines of autonomy, College had applied for continuation of autonomy for the next cycle and UGC granted the autonomous status for the second cycle from 2018-19 for 10 years i.e. till 2027-28.

The college proposes to introduce a unique professional specialization in B.Com. in collaboration with ACCA from current academic year. Similarly, College also propose to start M.A. in Psychology in this year.

The trust UGC has shown in the academic excellence of our college has encouraged us to strive for further heights in that direction. College has many plans for the coming years and will be introducing innovative and unique programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
