Sweden Opens Its Doors To Indian Students In Ukraine

Pune, 27th May 2022: Anna Lekvall, Consulate General of Sweden in Mumbai expressed that “The Ukraine-Russia war has, of course, affected the whole of Europe. But we are trying to find a way out of it. Meanwhile, Sweden’s doors are open for further education of Indian children in Ukraine and we will do our best to help them.”

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) organized the ‘Indo Nordic Circular Economy and Bio-Economy Workshop’ on May 26. Anna Lekvall was speaking during the press conference.

Dr. Karbhari Kale, in-charge Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Registrar Dr Prafulla Pawar, Norwegian Consul General in Mumbai Arne Jan Flolo, Director of the International Center Dr Vijay Khare, Head of Ecology Department Dr Suresh Gosavi, etc. were present on this occasion.

Welcoming the dignitaries in the first session of the press conference, Dr Vijay Khare started the program. At this time, the project coordinator of Nordics in India Dr Man Singh Sidhu, Country Manager Rupali Deshmukh, Nirjara Rastogi of Tetra Pak South Asia, Sulalit Bandopadhyay, Olof Delvikeyn, Shridhar Rao, Kimo Sira, Asha Kembhavi, Lene Lenz and others shared their thoughts.

The workshop focused on industry, environment and education, research, and marketing in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, and India.

Arne Jan Flolo said, “Technology should be used in the face of global challenges such as renewable energy and the green chain.”

The second session was welcomed by Dr Prashant Phalkar of Agharkar Research Institute, former Divisional Commissioner, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Environment Committee Dr Deepak Mhaisekar, Director, National Chemical Laboratory Ashish Lele, Ajit Kembhavi from Pune Knowledge Cluster, Dr. Savitribai Phule, Former Vice-Chancellor of Pune University. Nitin Karmalkar and others shared their thoughts.

It will combine the latest technology these countries have with the Indian market. The direction of development of a smart city, green building materials with 30% less cement and steel, new technology, etc. were discussed during the meeting.

Dr Deepak Mhaisekar said that given India’s growing population, India’s energy needs will continue to grow by 2030. In this, the demand for food will increase by 70 percent, water requirement by 30 percent, and energy requirement by 45 percent, for which it is necessary to create sustainable energy sources.

“It is a good thing that Savitribai Phule Pune University got the opportunity to work with all these nations. We will undertake and work on many such joint programs in the future,” said Dr. Karbhari Kale.
