Sundar Pichai Announces Gemini Mobile App Launch in India, Supporting 9 Local Languages

Pune, 18th June 2024: Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced on his official X handle the launch of the Gemini mobile app in India. This AI assistant app, available in English and nine local languages, aims to enhance user experience by offering multilingual support. The launch took place on Tuesday, and Indian users can now access the Gemini mobile app in multiple languages, ensuring wider accessibility and convenience.

Google has introduced the Gemini mobile app to cater to its Indian customers, enabling usage in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The app allows users to either type or speak their questions and even submit queries through images, providing a versatile and user-friendly interface.

In his post, Sundar Pichai emphasized the company’s commitment to integrating local languages with advanced features. “We are launching the Gemini mobile app in India, incorporating these local languages into Gemini Advanced, Plus, and new features,” Pichai stated. He also mentioned that Gemini would be initially launched in English through Google Messages, further highlighting the app’s versatility and adaptability.

To complement the Gemini mobile app, Google is also introducing its most advanced model, Gemini 1.5 Pro, for Indian users. The company claims that Gemini Advanced now holds the longest context of any consumer chatbot worldwide, making it a significant upgrade in the AI assistant landscape.
