Sudarshan Karwayi Initiative: PMPML Buses Under Scrutiny as Pune Traffic Police Takes Action

Pune, 22nd March 2023 – In a bid to maintain strict adherence to traffic rules, the Pune Police has launched the Sudarshan Karwayi campaign, utilizing CCTV cameras to identify and take action against violators. This initiative has seen a significant increase in vigilance, ensuring that Punekars are duly warned against breaking traffic regulations. The Pune City Traffic police, under the Sudarshan Karwayi campaign, has been consistently monitoring PMPML buses drivers, which have been found to be frequently violating traffic rules.
According to recent tweets by the Pune Traffic Police, daily action is being taken against individuals who fail to comply with traffic regulations, with evidence collected through CCTV footage provided by the PMPML. The police emphasize the importance of citizens being aware of this initiative and actively participating in promoting road safety.
Speaking about the campaign, DCP Traffic Vijay Magar stated, “We have initiated Sudarshan Karwayi, a champion campaign where action is taken against all individuals, regardless of their profession or social standing. This includes journalists, lawyers, police personnel, and even members of the elite class.”

Providing an update on the progress of the campaign, DCP Traffic Vijay Magar revealed that within the past 70 days, a total of 156 PMPML buses drivers have faced consequences for violating traffic rules. The breakdown of actions taken during this period includes 25 instances in March, 110 instances in April, and 21 instances between May 1st and 10th.
The Sudarshan Karwayi campaign has been effective in minimizing potential conflicts between law enforcement officers and citizens, as every case is backed by clear video evidence. Pune residents are urged to maintain vigilance while driving and adhere to traffic regulations to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.
