Pune, 27th April 2022: Schools were closed due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic. Even when online education was introduced, schools collected 100 per cent fees. Earlier, the government had ordered schools to reduce fees by 15 per cent. However, they are not implemented by the schools.

Pune Zilla Parishad education officer Sandhya Gaikwad yesterday wrote to all the aided, unaided and self-financed schools to submit a report on a 15% fee reduction as per Maharashtra government order based on a judgement of the Supreme Court.

The reports have to be submitted to the ZP through the administrative officers of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) or the block education officer as per the location of the school.

Parents have lodged complaints against eight schools with the Pune Divisional Fee Regulatory Committee. A show-cause notice will now be issued to the schools.

Meanwhile, some schools have raised fees instead of reducing them. Parents have taken an aggressive stance on this.

“A crucial meeting of the Fees Regulatory Committee took place recently. Discussions were held on preparing forms for filling up various information. Work was also started to prepare the form accordingly. The committee will meet in the second week of May. Before that, schools will be notified and their views will be heard”, informed Pune Divisional Deputy Director of Education Audumbar Ukirade.
