Stampede Concerns Prompt Central Railway to Temporarily Stop Platform Ticket Sales At Pune, Mumbai, Thane And Other Stations

Mumbai, 27th October 2024: In anticipation of the heavy rush during the upcoming festive season, and following a stampede incident at Bandra railway station, Central Railway has imposed temporary restrictions on the sale of platform tickets at select major stations. This move is aimed at controlling crowding on platforms and ensuring smooth passenger movement within station premises.

The restrictions are effective immediately and will remain in place until November 8, 2024, covering the busy period of Diwali and Chhath Puja.

Affected Stations:

– Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)

– Dadar

– Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)

– Thane

– Kalyan

– Pune

– Nagpur

Exemptions:

Senior citizens and passengers with medical needs are exempted from the restrictions to facilitate their travel during the festive season.

Central Railway has appealed to all passengers to cooperate with the new regulations and plan their journeys accordingly to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience during the festive period.
