Slab Collapse at Pimpri Chinchwad Construction Site Injures 9 Labourers

Dighi, 20th June 2024: A construction site mishap in Pimpri Chinchwad has resulted in injuries to more than nine laborers after a construction slab collapsed. The incident occurred at a hospital construction site near Ajeenkya D Y Patil School of Engineering in Charholi Budruk on Tuesday (18th) around 7:30 PM.

Police Constable Anil Ramchandra Shinde reported the incident to Dighi Police Station. A case has been registered against carpenter contractor Mohammad Abraar Aalam and concrete contractor Mohammad Rashit Raja under IPC Sections 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 34 (acts done by several people with common intention).

According to the police, the construction of a hospital building is currently underway at the Ajinkya DY Patil College of Engineering campus in Charholi Budruk. During the construction process, slabs were being laid on the porch. However, due to insufficient support beneath the slab, it collapsed, resulting in serious injuries to nine workers who were underneath. Police Sub Inspector Ranaware from Dighi Police Station is continuing the investigation in this matter.
