Seven New Police Stations in Pune Police Commissionerate to be Operational Next Week

Pune, 2nd October 2024: The Home Department of Maharashtra State Government has approved the establishment of seven new police stations within the Pune Police Commissionerate. A budget of approximately ₹60 crore has been allocated for this expansion. The decision comes in response to the city’s rapid growth and the need to maintain law and order. Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar announced that these new stations would be operational within the next week.

Currently, the Pune Police Commissionerate has 32 police stations. Due to the increasing demands in areas like Bharati Vidyapeeth, Sinhagad Road, Chaturshringi, Loni Kalbhor, Lonikand, Hadapsar, Wanawadi, and Kondhwa, several have been split to create the new police stations. The new stations will be located in Ambegaon, Nanded City, Baner, Kharadi, Wagholi, Kale Padal, and Fursungi, all of which have received administrative approval and identified locations.

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated that the new stations would enhance the city’s ability to maintain public order. Funds have been allocated for the necessary infrastructure, and 816 new police personnel posts have been sanctioned.

Here are the funds allocated for each new police station:

– Ambegaon: ₹7.9 crore
– Nanded City: ₹8.60 crore
– Baner: ₹8.60 crore
– Kharadi: ₹7.50 crore
– Wagholi: ₹8.75 crore
– Kale Padal: ₹10.24 crore
– Fursungi: ₹8.81 crore
