Pune: An anti-spit campaign was held on August 12, Saturday by students of Indus Business School Tathawade, on the Pune-Bangalore Highway near Indira School of Communication. They pasted stickers saying “don’t spit” on windows of cars, made people take pledges of not spitting and not letting others spit who passed by the area, picked up garbage in bags and cleaned the area.

Last year, Maharashtra government had launched a law against spitting respect to which today the youth has started taking more initiatives against spitting. This is for sure a step towards green and clean Pune. Due to the voice raised today by the young generation the acts of spitting on roads have minimized to a certain extent.

Physicians say in the past, city has seen a rise in diseases like swine flu and tuberculosis because of such reasons, so now it is high time people realize the importance of cleanliness. There are many anti-spit campaigns held all over the country now-a-days since people have started getting aware about various diseases, infections and other serious ailments caused by spitting on roads. CCTV cameras should be installed on streets to keep a check on people who spit and impose fine on such activities.

It is our city, and it is our responsibility to keep it clean. Let us take a pledge that right from today neither will we spit nor we would let others spit.
