Pune, 7th September 2023: The District Legal Services Authority of Pune has organized the National Lok Adalat with the primary aim of providing convenience to the common citizens, eliminating the need for them to navigate the court system in search of justice. This initiative embodies the concept of ‘justice at your doorstep.’

The Lok Adalat for the resolution of pending cases related to traffic rule violations will take place at the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch Office, Near Yerwada Post Office, Pune, on September 9, 2023, at 8:00 AM.

To assist and guide drivers, a “Helpdesk” has been operational at the Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic Branch Office in Yerwada, Pune, since August 28, 2023. From August 28, 2023, to September 6, 2023, a total of 5877 motorists availed of this service, reporting their pending traffic violations and reaching settlements on the fines.

The Lok Adalat scheduled for September 9, 2023, will see a significant number of summons issued by the court through the traffic department. Both the District Legal Services Authority of Pune and the local administration have taken special measures to ensure that citizens summoned to the Lok Adalat face minimal inconvenience. The process has been designed to expedite the settlement of cases and save citizens’ time. All eligible citizens are encouraged to take full advantage of this public court opportunity, traffic police have appealed.

To facilitate the efficient resolution of cases through compromise and speedy disposal, the District Legal Services Authority of Pune has established 19 desks, each manned by a Judicial Magistrate, at the Lok Adalat.

A token system has been implemented to prioritize citizens who arrive first at the Lok Adalat, ensuring that their cases are taken up immediately. The Lok Adalat continues the practice of granting a 50 percent discount on fines to citizens through the “Helpdesk,” as previously facilitated by the Court. This relief mechanism will also be extended to eligible cases in the National Lok Adalat.
