Aundh, October 27, 2020: Potholes and crumbling surfaces inside the Spicer Adventist University (SAU) campus located on Aundh Road, provides a rough ride to the residents and have made the area accident-prone.

A stretch inside the SAU campus for about 500 meters is surrounded by broken surfaces and potholes, threatening the occupants, the students and teachers, while driving inside the University campus, claimed several SAU residents.

The residents have complained that the stretch of the roads has been lying unevenly for several years and requires immediate re-carpeting work. “The condition of the road is really bad. It has been like this for two years now”, said a resident living inside the SAU Campus.

Many other residents also complained about the tyres skidding while applying brakes, resulting in the possibility of an accident. “There can be cases where two-wheelers can skid easily. I almost fell while driving but somehow I managed and controlled”, said another resident anonymously.

Commuters also complained that the dilapidated road conditions result in wearing off the tyre of the vehicles. “The road stretch has been getting worse over time. It is even difficult to walk during the night time confidently. Some of my friends trip and fall just because of how uneven the road is. Having new roads would improve the look and the feel of the campus overall”, said a resident.

Meanwhile, many others complained about visitors avoiding to drive inside the campus. Another resident said, “Most of our friends avoid driving inside the campus as well because vehicles are deteriorating, so they park at the parking near the gate and prefer to walk.”

Punekarnews.in raised this issue with Dr Simon Resu, Registrar, SAU. “I have escalated this issue with the management team and vice-chancellor as well. As soon as we have an update we will get back to this”, he said.

Despite repeated calls and Messages to Vice-chancellor Sanjeevan Arsud, there was no response.

This report will be updated after getting his response.
