Students are taking online classes since the last six to seven months. But it is difficult to get practical experience especially for students studying vocational courses. Therefore there is a demand to reopen the colleges. Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) had decided to reopen the colleges from 11th January 2021, but they had to take back the decision due to pressure from the state government.

Last week, 20 vice-chancellors from the state interacted with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and demanded him to grant permission to reopen the colleges. Many student associations have also demanded it.
