Pune, 5th July 2024: Realme, a leading mobile phone manufacturer, has announced a partnership with Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony to enhance the camera features of its upcoming 5G smartphones. The Realme 13 Pro Series will feature the world’s first Sony LYT-701 sensor, introducing advanced AI imaging capabilities. This collaboration was revealed by Realme officials during a pre-launch event in Bangkok, marking the company’s entry into a new segment of AI-imaging-enabled devices.

Addressing the media, Francis Wong, Head of Product Marketing at Realme, highlighted that the smartphone industry has long been focused on the race for higher megapixels, larger sensor sizes, and advanced lens technology. While these hardware improvements have provided users with more flexibility and control, they are approaching their limits. Wong emphasized that the future of mobile photography lies in Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will define the next frontier in camera technology.

Realme’s new 5G phones, featuring AI-imaging capabilities, will include HYPERIMAGE+ technology. This technology integrates multiple lenses, periscope lenses, and large sensors to provide the necessary components for capturing high-quality images. Additionally, it allows users to utilize AI imaging algorithms on the device and offers cloud-based AI image editing.

The collaboration with Sony brings the world’s first Sony LYT-701 camera sensor to the Realme 13 Pro Series 5G. This sensor, coupled with the Sony LYT-600 50MP periscope telephoto camera, enables the phone to deliver high-quality images. Toshimitsu Kurosaka, Vice President of Sony Semiconductor Solutions (Shanghai) Ltd., stated that this partnership is about more than just technology; it is about empowering everyone to capture and share their world in ways never before imagined.

Realme also announced that it would later reveal the official launch dates for the new devices in India and other markets. The company believes this collaboration will set a new benchmark in mobile photography, leveraging AI to overcome the limitations of traditional hardware improvements.

This partnership represents a significant step for Realme as it seeks to innovate and lead in the competitive smartphone market, focusing on AI as the key to future advancements in mobile camera technology.
