Rain with Lightning Likely in Maharashtra; Pune to Witness Thunderstorms

Pune, 29th March 2025: Maharashtra is set to experience rain accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms from tomorrow onwards, with Pune also likely to witness intense showers.

According to weather experts, high temperatures and moisture incursion across the state have led to atmospheric instability, resulting in the formation of Cumulonimbus (CB) clouds, particularly in the afternoon hours.

The rainfall is expected to be short but intense, with a possibility of hailstorms in early April. The unstable weather conditions are likely to persist for the next few days.

Experts have advised people to take precautions during thunderstorms. “Avoid standing under trees or in open areas during lightning and thunder. Sudden weather changes can lead to strong winds and intense downpours,” they warned.

With the rise in temperatures, the combination of heat and moisture has contributed to the formation of CB clouds, leading to localised rainfall and stormy weather. The unseasonal rain may impact farmers, particularly those harvesting rabi crops.

Authorities have urged residents to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during the thunderstorms.
