Rain Havoc In Pune: 12 People Rescued Safely By Fire Brigade

Pune, 18th October 2022: There was a heavy downpour in Pune city yesterday night, with flooding reported in many areas. The fire brigade received calls from 9.57 pm, on Monday, to 4 am on Tuesday. Among them, 20 cases of ingress or accumulation of water were reported.

 

In particular, a family was trapped in the water due to massive waterlogging near Swaroop Vardhini in Mangalwar Peth. Resident Pallavi Javale informed Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode about them. Accordingly, fire officers Pradeep Khedekar, Tandel Rajaram Kedari, Anil Karde and jawans Chhagan More, Shafiq Syed, Harish Bundele, Raju Jagdale, Nilesh Karne, Mahesh Gard, Mayur Karle, Chandrakant Mense, Rahul Jadhav, Navnath Javale and driver Dheeraj Sonawane, reached there. They rescued three minor girls, a woman and a man of the family. When Tandel Rajaram Kedari carried the girls on his shoulders, the locals thanked him, and the video of this has gone viral on social media.

 

At one place near Kondhwa Khurd Bhaji Mandai, seven citizens were stuck in the water. Kondhwa Khurd Firefighters Nilesh Lonkar, Ravi Bartakke, Narayan Misal, Suraj Malvadkar, Sagar Ingle, Aniket Gogawle and driver Deepak Kachre rescued them using ropes.

Yewalewadi Crematorium, Sukhsagar Nagar -Ambamata Temple, Kondhwa Khurd -NIBM Road, Rasta Peth – Near Daruwala Bridge, Sukhsagar Nagar, Dolphin Chowk, B T Kawade Road – Opposite Fire Station, Hadapsar – Gadital, Shivajinagar Police Headquarters, Mangalwar Peth – Shivaji Stadium, Kasba Peth – Near Fish Market and Opposite Kumbhar Wada, Narayan Peth – Modi Ganpati, Aundh – DAV School lane, Kasba Peth Pavle Chowk, Kasba Peth – Bhutada Niwas, Parvati – Mitramandal Chowk, Ganj Peth, Bhawani Peth.

 

 

Multiple reports of tree felling were also reported. In one incident, a tree fell on a rickshaw near Akashvani in Hadapsar, Bidi Kamgar Vasahat in Chandannagar, and on a two-wheeler at Loyola School, Pashan, in another incident. The injured biker was sent to the hospital by the citizens before the help of the fire brigade arrived.
