Railways remove 203 illegal constructions along tracks

Pune – In one of the biggest anti-encroachment drive, the Pune division of the railways on Thursday removed 203 huts which illegally constructed close to the tracks between Hadapsar and Saswad. Last month similar action was taken at Pimpri railway station.

Sanjay Kumar, the officiating spokesperson for Pune railway division, told Punekarnews.in that notices were earlier served to people in this regard. “A total of 203 encroachments including huts, religious structures and shops were removed. About 148 encroachments were removed at Ramtekdi and Dobadwadi railway premises.”

The encroachments were removed in the presence of heavy bandobast by Railway Protection Force (RPF), Wanowrie and Hadapsar police stations and other railway staffs.The railway officials said that about 9,000 encroachments, spread over 14.16 hectares, have been identified between Pune to Kolhapur, Daund and Lonavla. About 80 percent of these are near railway tracks in Pune.
