Railway Ticket Fraud: Resident Caught Charging Rs 200 Extra for Reservations, FIR Registered

Manmad, 12 July 2023: In a crackdown against the illegal practice of ticket scalping, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) in Manmad. The incident came to light on 11th July 2023 when a raid was conducted based on prior information, leading to the apprehension of Samir Mahendra and Sangameshwar, residents of Nashik district, who were found guilty.

The accused, Samir Mahendra, was involved in the illicit business of overcharging passengers for railway E-tickets. He admitted to engaging in unauthorized brokerage activities and charging an extra 200 rupees per reservation. The FIR has been registered against him under relevant sections of the law.

Ticket scalping, which involves the resale of reserved railway tickets at inflated prices, is a major concern that affects passengers and undermines the integrity of the ticketing system. The RPF’s swift action in Manmad serves as a stern message against such malpractices and emphasizes the authorities’ commitment to curbing ticket fraud.

Passengers are advised to be cautious and report any instances of ticket scalping or suspicious ticketing activities to the authorities.
