Purandar, 27th June 2021: Residents from eight villages held a meeting at Naygaon to oppose the Pune international airport in Purandar. The farmers unanimously passed a resolution for ‘not give an inch of land for the airport project’.

Villagers claimed that the officials showed the land, which is to be acquired, as dry land whereas the land is very productive.

Villagers from Rise, Pise, Rajuri, Naygaon, Pandeshwar in Purandar taluka and Bhondvewadi, Chandgudewadi and Ambi Khurd villages in Baramati taluka attended the meeting. The villagers are getting aggressive and oppose the project.

Sarpanch of Naygaon, Haridas These said, “While proposing the project the officials showed our land as dry land whereas the land is very productive. We will not give our land for this project. We Will soon decide on further action to show our opposition to this project.”

Anil Shendge said that villagers from Memane-Pargaon opposed the airport project and the government shifted the project to another site. Similarly, we also oppose this project.

A similar opinion was expressed by villagers Chandrakant Chaundakr, Mahesh Kad and many others.

“Only political leaders will get benefits from this project while farmers will lose their fertile land. We have taken this issue seriously and do everything to save our land,” said Pradip Khese.
