Pune, 7th September 2023: Bal Gopal and young devotees of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj celebrated a unique festival by breaking an innovative toy Dahihandi. The event was organized by the Jedhe Social Welfare Foundation, Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Mitra Mandal, and Navayug Mitra Mandal at the historic Jedhe Mansion, near Panchmukhi Maruti Mandir in Shukrawar Peth. School students, dressed as Mavlas and donning turbans, enthusiastically participated in this handi-breaking ceremony.

One of the highlights of the event was a live demonstration of ‘Mavala,’ a national award-winning board game designed to educate children about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj while they play. The game received a warm reception from the attendees. Additionally, the event featured spirited performances by the Avartan Dhol Tasha Team and Rudrang Bandya Team (Trust) from Pune, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Prominent figures in attendance included MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, Vice President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress, former MLA Mohan Joshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill, Convener and President of Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Mitra Mandal Trust, Secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress Kanhoji Jedhe, Adv. Richa Jedhe, Dayanand Jedhe, Anirudh Rajderkar (the creator of the Mavala board game), social activist Vaibhav Wagh, and more.

The event, initiated by Ravindra Dhangekar, Mohan Joshi, and DCP Sandeep Singh Gill, is a constructive celebration of Dahihandi involving young cowherd enthusiasts.

Kanhoji Jedhe remarked, “This unique Balagopal Toy Dahihandi was organized with the idea of carrying forward the legacy of late Baburao alias Appasaheb Jedhe and Keshavrao alias Tatyasaheb Jedhe, with the aim of celebrating Dahihandi with children. It featured more than 1500 toys of various types, which were distributed to orphanages and children in remote areas. The ‘Mavla’ game is an invaluable tool for helping children understand Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy.”
