Pune’s Rising Star, Gayatri Tambavekar, Triumphs with Gold at National School Cycling Championship

Pune, 15th February 2024: Pune’s gifted young cyclist, Gayatri Tambavekar, secured the gold medal at the 67th National School Track and Road Cycling Championship in Ranchi. The event, buzzing with energy, featured around 450 talented players across age groups of 14, 17, and 19.

In the under-14 category, Gayatri showcased remarkable skill by claiming the top spot in the time trial event, completing the course in an impressive 42.1 seconds. The competition was fierce, with Sahasara of Telangana and Sandhu of Punjab securing second and third positions with timings of 43.9 seconds and 45.1 seconds.

Highlighting her exceptional performance, Gayatri also contributed to Maharashtra’s success by earning a well-deserved bronze medal in road cycling.

Expressing gratitude for the support received, Gayatri credited her achievements to the backing of Cycling Federation of India Vice President, Pratap Jadhav, and Maharashtra Cycling Association Secretary, Sanjay Sathe.

A 7th-grade student at VIBGYOR School in Baner, Gayatri has honed her cycling skills under coach Darshan Barguje at the Phoenix Cycling Academy Pune for seven years.
